I launched a new version of my website, and re-started my blog, because I wanted a place to be creative. That likely sounds weird. I write books–isn’t the creativity built in?
To a certain extent, yes. But this summer, I asked myself, when was the last time I wrote without thinking that it had to be useful? I couldn’t remember. All of my writing is a job. And I love that job. I’d like more of that job. More job please.
But there’s something really crucial about low-stakes creative practice. And that’s what this blog is about: this is my place to play, to be creative. I’m not selling it on Etsy. I’m not a professional. In many cases, I’m not very skilled, and I’m kind of making it up as I go along.
That’s sort of the point. I want this little corner of the Internet to be a place where I can say, look! I made a thing! And I have thoughts about it! And maybe you do too?
